Swimming Pool Filtration
Better clarity is the result of the huge ZeoSand surface area trapping smaller dirt particles than sand does.
Huge Surface Area = Better Clarity
ZeoSand gives DE-like clarity with your existing swimming pool sand filter – just replace the sand with ZeoSand. NSF/ANSI Standard 50 testing shows that 25 pounds of ZeoSand replaces 50 pounds of sand.
25 pounds ZeoSand = 50 pounds Sand
In addition to trapping smaller particles of dirt, the huge surface area also traps more dirt. Since the dirt is being trapped on the ZeoSand rather than being trapped between particles more dirt is filtered by ZeoSand and the pressure does not rise as quickly. This high dirt loading before backwashing means fewer backwashes.
Fewer Backwashes = Water and Chemical Savings
Improved Clarity
With ZeoSand the sand filter owner will see greater clarity plus the normal advantages of a sand filter in addition to the low equipment cost and low maintenance cost.

The high dirt holding capacity and shorter backwash time of ZeoSand means less water is used to improve clarity.
ZeoSand filters better than sand because the surface area is about 100 times greater than sand—more surface area means there are more places for the dirt to be trapped and more dirt holding capacity. ZeoSand has a BET specific surface area of 29.3 M2/g or about 2.5 NFL football fields per pound. This huge surface area traps small dirt particles in the nooks and crannies of the ZeoSand surface.
