ZeoShield™ Antimicrobial Treatment
ZEO’s newest and most advanced alternative to filter sand combines:
ZeoShield’s microbiological protection for a cleaner filter and
ZeoSand’s huge surface area for clearer water.
Cleaner and Clearer
ZeoShield Treatment
ZeoShield inhibits the growth of microorganisms on the ZeoSand surface. This helps prevent the ZeoSand surface from fouling due to algae, mold, and bacteria growth that can cause deterioration or discoloration of the filter bed.
The ZeoShield antimicrobial agent uses quaternary amine technology to bond to the ZeoSand surface. The sole purpose of ZeoShield is to protect the ZeoSand surface.
ZeoSand with ZeoShield has over a 99.9% reduction of both types of bacteria – Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria in the ASTM E2149 test. This dynamic shake flask test is commonly used to test the antimicrobial efficiency of coated materials like filter media.
ZeoSand Superior Filtration
ZeoSand’s angular and porous particles give superior clarity and higher dirt capacity. A pound of ZeoSand has a surface area of about 140,000 square feet, while sand has only about 3,000 and glass has even less than sand.
Nearly twenty years of successful commercial and consumer use proves ZeoSand performs well under a wide range of condition and equipment configurations.
In addition, ZeoSand has a natural cation exchange capacity to trap positively charged ions, including the ammonium ion and complex chloramines.
Under normal conditions, ZeoSand with ZeoShield will last more than two years.
